The primal scene and erotic (counter) transference

Unconscious phantasies of sexual intimacy between our parents are a matrix from which we create our own intimate relationships, including our therapeutic relationships. The client’s phantasies of the “primal scene” will have a big impact on how he shapes his intimate object – relationships. Through a short guided imagery exercise we may access more of our “primal phantasies” and learn more about our strengths and weaknesses in handling the erotic transference.
